Always good (and always boiling hot) poutine. Servings are somewhat generous for the price. Has nice seating outside, but I'd suggest eating next to the river.

Awesome poutine, one of the better casse croutes I've encountered in Quebec. Worth stopping but can get very busy in the summer months.

We often stop here in Quebec to have a lunch before going back to Montreal. Great fries, and if you like poutine that is very good too

Best poutine sauce I have ever tried (I'm a put one enthusiast)! The fries were not entirely of my liking, since they could've been crispier. Still, a must try.

Nestled in the charming town of Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier, Casse-Croute Marcotte stands out as a true gem for anyone seeking authentic Quebecois comfort food. The restaurant’s reputation largely rests on its legendary poutine, which draws praise from locals and visitors alike for its rich, perfectly balanced gravy and generous portions. Whether you prefer the classic poutine traditionnelle or adventurous variations like the smoked meat poutine or poutine saucisses, each plate arrives steaming hot, showcasing a satisfying harmony between crisp fries and savory toppings.

The menu extends beyond poutine to offer a variety of hearty comfort dishes, including the hot hamburger, club sandwich au poulet, and the Interburger géant—each crafted to satisfy big appetites with flavorful combinations. Notably, the fish and chips here provide a crispy, golden crust that complements the tender fish within, while the poulet avec fromage presents a delightful twist with melted cheese enhancing the juicy chicken.

For a sweet finish, the crème glacée molle framboise bleue enrobée de chocolat is a standout—a creamy frozen treat layered with fresh fruity notes and rich chocolate coating. The yogourt glacé au framboise et banane offers a lighter, refreshing alternative that pairs perfectly with a classic crème soda or a nostalgic 7up.

What adds to the experience is the inviting outdoor seating, which many patrons recommend enjoying by the river for a serene dining atmosphere. The restaurant balances quality and value; servings are ample without sacrificing taste, making it an ideal stop for a casual lunch or a quick, satisfying meal during a road trip through Quebec.

Overall, Casse-Croute Marcotte delivers on its promise of hearty, flavorful dishes rooted in Quebec’s culinary traditions. From the first bite of their poutine to the last lick of their ice cream, it’s a spot that convincingly invites you to experience classic casse-croute fare at its finest.
